    Volkl Chica Junior Ski w/ 3Motion R 7.0 Binding

    Volkl

First impressions in skiing can make the difference between a lifelong passion and a bad vacation memory. Even when you choose the right weather and the ideal gradual slope, the quality of the ski gear is a huge factor in learning how to ski. That's why Volkl put countless hours of thought into their forgiving and predictable Chica Junior ski with integrated Marker 3Motion R 7.0 Binding. The Girl's Chica Junior features a vibration dampening polyurethane core that doesn't offer the spring and pop of Volkl's woodcore design, but it does create excellent stability for first turns. The Marker 3Motion Jr. R Binding has a DIN range between 2 to 7, so even the smallest and lightest skiers enjoy a significant measure of protection and reliability.

  • Volkl Mantra Junior Ski

    Volkl Mantra Junior Ski

    Volkl

Should the biggest kids and adults have the coolest skis for ripping powder? Not any more thanks to the kid-specific Mantra Junior Ski. Volkl is one of the few ski manufacturers to address the need for smaller powder skis for young advanced skiers, and the Mantra Junior won't disappoint. Like the adult-proportioned Mantra, this smaller ski has a tip-to-tail Sensorwood core and wood sidewalls for flex. Volkl balanced the Mantra Junior's agile core profile with their Power Construction design for confidence-inspiring control without the dumbed-down, beginner features that take away the fun. Like the larger Mantra, the Mantra Jr. remains great for crud, but even the 80-mm. waist won't carve as well for kids as some of the slimmer and trimmer youth carving skis out there, so consider weather patterns and terrain before you buy. Still, if it dumps during your ski vacation, the Mantra Jr. is perfect for first tracks after a storm at the resort. Keep in mind that this version doesn't include bindings. If you're looking for binding suggestions, Volkl pairs their skis with Marker bindings.

  • Volkl Men's AC30 Ski w/ iPT 12.0 Piston Binding

    Volkl Men's AC30 Ski w/ iPT 12.0 Piston Binding

    Volkl

While it might be a step down from the Volkl AC50 in cost, the all-mountain AC30 isn't a performance compromise. The big difference is in the core construction--so the AC30 is a little less lively, but just as stable at a variety of speeds. The AC30 also has a slightly longer turn radius than the AC50, which is an important trait to point out because a lot of experienced skiers tend to assume all-mountain ski models with smaller model numbers equate to smaller turns down the mountain. The AC30 is a great utility ski for most advanced skiers, especially those who want a narrower waist ski for the hardpack and groomed runs. It's a great design for experienced skiers who want to perfect their skills all the way up to taking on double-diamond runs. The Volkl Unlimited AC30 ski has an extended wood core doesn't rise quite as far as the Extended Sensorwood core design in the AC50. This creates a more forgiving platform for better shock absorption and predictability, minus that "spring" that sometimes unsettles skiers on tricky slopes. This AC30 is paired with the proven Marker Motion iPT 12.0 Piston Binding for exceptional power transmission and sensitivity. It's a lighter binding design that improves the ski flex through an improved Motion system. The iPT stands for "internal power transmission" because unlike previous Marker Motion bindings, this binding is built into the ski, creating the most rigid connection ever developed for this binding line. Because the sides of the binding interface rest directly on top of the AC30 Extended Double Grip construction, you can apply more pressure directly over the ski edges. This gives you better response with the same lively feel that quickly rebounds through the perfectly rounded ski flex in each turn. Another binding enhancement is the interface, which now snaps together according to your boot sole length, so you can do away with the added ounces of an adjustment dial.

  • Volkl Men's AC50 Ski w/ iPT Wide Ride 12.0 Binding

Volkl Men's AC50 Ski w/ iPT Wide Ride 12.0 Binding

    Volkl

The ski waist widths grow wider as you climb the model numbers in Volkl's AC Unlimited collection, and the AC50 is at the top of the wide rides--the last AC before you step into the powder-hungry Volkl Grizzly. The AC50 with integrated Marker iPT Wide Ride binding is an ideal choice for advanced and expert skiers who want an easy-turning, do-it-all-well design for big mountain venues like Valdez, Alaska, Whistler/Blackcomb, British Columbia and Verbier, Switzerland. The AC50 has a wider turn radius than the lower number ACs, so it's better oriented toward GS fans, especially those who prefer a lot of untracked terrain. Volkl made their AC50 with an Extended Double Grip construction, a fancy way of describing the dual chambers on the ski that extend from almost the tip to the tail. The parallel chambers in the Extended Double Grip construction give better support along the edges than traditional skis, and this helps distribute even pressure along the edges to the snow, so you're more likely to turn when and where you want to--even on icy hardpack. Volkl combined their Extended Double Grip construction with their Extended Sensorwood core, a complex CNC milling process that extends the wood core upward. This combination of core and grip is found only in Volkl's most advanced and highest performing skis. Volkl paired this AC50 model with the Marker iPT Wide Ride 12.0 binding. The Wide Ride is 30% wider than the original iPT binding, so it fits perfectly without brake bar modifications. If you're looking for comparisons, the Marker iPT Wide Ride has the same toe and heel hardware found on Marker's Duke and Jester freeride bindings. These toe and heel pieces feature a better and more secure wrap around the boot lug in front, with increased directional elasticity throughout the heel area. We like this ski/binding combo more than seasons past because of the ounces shaved and the shorter connection between your boots and the skis. This means that you'll probably find this ski/binding combo easier to handle than other wide ski/binding designs.

  • Volkl Men's Gotama Ski

    Volkl Men's Gotama Ski

    Volkl

This is the one that started the twin-tip revolution in the backcountry, and today's Volkl Gotama remains one of the best. The Gotama is a lively, powder-punching, crud-busting design that takes to the deepest powder caches with excellent response. While the Gotama name is almost old school, Volkl recently tweaked their Power construction for a little more rigidity when you hit patches of hardpack or wind-scored old snow. This gives you slightly better power transmission when you need to make turns in tight spots. If you hit big mountains like Whistler or places in Europe, the Gotama has the right stuff to handle the transitions through changing snow conditions (just stay off the slalom course--those short arc turns can hurt). Like other skis in the Volkl freeride series, the Gotama ski has the same tip-to-tail Sensorwood/multilayer core and wood sidewalls for excellent flex. Volkl balanced this agile core profile with their slightly stiffer Power Construction design to keep you completely in control wherever you need to go. Keep in mind that this version doesn't include bindings. If you're looking for suggestions, Volkl pairs their skis with Marker bindings and they like the iPT Wide Ride series.

  • Volkl Women's Aurora Ski w/ iPT Wide Ride 12.0 Binding

Volkl Women's Aurora Ski w/ iPT Wide Ride 12.0 Binding

    Volkl

Yes, the Volkl Attiva Fuego goes fast, but when you need a wider ski for plummeting down acres of fresh powder or extra stability for busting up afternoon crud, this women's all-mountain Aurora ski with integrated iPT Wide Ride binding is a perfect choice for advanced and expert skiers. It's the sort of easy-turning, do-it-all-well women's ski for big mountain venues like Valdez, Alaska, Whistler/Blackcomb, British Columbia and Verbier, Switzerland. The Aurora's turn radius is oriented toward women who prefer wider-arc GS-style turns, but this ski has the same top-end components found on the tighter-turning Attiva Fuego. Volkl made the Aurora with an Extended Double Grip construction, a fancy way of describing the dual chambers on the ski that extend from almost the tip to the tail. The parallel chambers in the Extended Double Grip construction give better support along the edges than traditional skis, and this helps distribute even pressure along the edges to the snow, so you're more likely to turn when and where you want to--even on icy hardpack. Volkl combined their Extended Double Grip construction with their female-specific Extended Sensorwood core, a complex CNC milling process that extends the wood core upward. This combination of core and grip is found only in Volkl's most advanced and highest performing skis. Compared to the guy's skis, the Aurora has a dramatically lighter weight (at least 20% depending on which length you choose). It also has a lower and shorter tip profile, which slightly reduces the overall swing weight and makes the Aurora easier to turn than unisex all-mountain skis. As with other manufacturer's female-specific skis, Volkl moved the bindings on the Aurora closer to the ski tip than other unisex designs, so the effortless turn initiation feels almost instinctive. Volkl paired this Aurora model with the Marker iPT Wide Ride 12.0 binding. The Wide Ride is 30% wider than the original Marker iPT binding, so it fits perfectly without brake bar modifications. If you're looking for comparisons, the Marker iPT Wide Ride has the same toe and heel hardware found on Marker's Duke and Jester freeride bindings. • Volkl Women's Fuego Ski w/ iPT 11.0 TC Binding

Volkl Women's Fuego Ski w/ iPT 11.0 TC Binding

    Volkl

Other ski companies offer women's skis designed to keep up with the boys, but Volkl's ultra-fast Attiva Fuego is designed to beat everyone. If you're into carving groomed runs and hurtling over hardpack most of the day, the Attiva Fuego ski is an ideal choice. While it can certainly take a few runs in the untracked, this is a high-speed expert's platform oriented toward carving. If you're looking for parallels in dimensions, the Attiva Fuego Ski has the same sidecut as Volkl's men's 10 Foot Tigershark ski, but the setup and components are specifically created for women. The Attiva Fuego features an Extended Woodcore Light design that consists of two wood strips along the sides laminated to a bottom layer of titanium. Volkl maintained the female-specific 20/20 performance (20 percent lighter and 20 percent softer than unisex skis) while milling out the top section of the extended wood core to accommodate the Marker Motion iPT 11.0 TC Binding. It's a lighter binding design that improves the ski flex through an improved Motion system. The iPT stands for "internal power transmission" because unlike previous Marker Motion bindings, this one is built into the ski, creating the most rigid connection ever developed for this binding line. Because the sides of the binding interface rest directly on top of the Attiva Fuego's Extended Double Grip construction, you can apply more pressure directly over the ski edges. This gives you better response with the same lively feel that quickly rebounds through the perfectly rounded ski flex in each turn. Another binding enhancement is the interface, which now snaps together according to your boot sole length, so you can do away with the weighty adjustment dial. If you crave carving but you need the power typically found on the larger boy's toys, the expert-oriented Attiva Fuego with integrated Marker iPT 11.0 TC binding won't disappoint.

  • Volkl Women's Pearl Ski

    Volkl Women's Pearl Ski

    Volkl

With the same dimensions as the Volkl men's Ledge ski, this women's Pearl ski is the ideal female-specific twin-tip for jibbing in the terrain park--especially if you're an intermediate-to-advanced rider who is fairly new to the park and pipe scene. With fewer ounces than the Ledge, the Pearl is a lightweight twin-tip that's excellent for intermediate women skiers who want to stick to the groomed places in the park. Despite having the same dimensions as the Ledge, the Pearl is female-specific to the core--an agile balance of Sensorwood made from vertically laminated poplar and beech wood and integrated with strips of balsa. This gives the Pearl a dramatically lighter weight than the Ledge (at least 20% depending on which length you choose). The Pearl also has a lower and shorter tip profile than the Ledge, which slightly reduces the overall swing weight and makes the Pearl easier to turn (both on and above the snow). As with other manufacturer's female-specific skis, Volkl moved the bindings on the Pearl closer to the ski tip than other unisex designs, so the effortless turn initiation feels almost instinctive. If you're looking for a lark in the park that's better balanced than any boy's toy, the twin-tip Pearl is an easy choice.
